Cheap flights to Karachi from the US and Canada: fares, routes and arrival tips
What round trips to Karachi cost from five US cities and Toronto on November 2, 2026, why CA$18 more bought 38 fewer hours from Toronto, and what Canada's advice says about the city and its airport road.
The cheapest Karachi round trip in our travel partner's fare data on November 2, 2026 was $758 from Los Angeles, sold by Qatar Airways with one stop each way, for 30 days from January 3 to February 2, 2027. US coverage was thin: only five of the eleven cities we searched returned any Karachi fare, and the next cheapest, New York, was $1,101. From Toronto the data held 20 fares, starting at CA$1,134. This guide reads those fares, then covers what Canada's travel advice says about Karachi's neighborhoods and the road from the airport. For the other two big airports, our guide to cheap flights to Pakistan compares all three.
What Karachi fares cost
These are the round trips in that data, by departure city.
| From | Lowest seen | Typical | Month of lowest |
|---|---|---|---|
| Los Angeles | $758 | too few fares | January 2027 |
| New York | $1,101 | too few fares | December 2026 |
| Dallas-Fort Worth | $1,133 | $1,149 | November 2026 |
| Chicago | $1,599 | too few fares | December 2026 |
| Boston | $1,950 | too few fares | December 2026 |
| From | Lowest seen | Typical | Month of lowest |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toronto | CA$1,134 | CA$1,165 | March 2027 |
"Lowest seen" is the cheapest round trip we found from each city. "Typical" is the median of the fares we found from that city, shown where there were at least three. US fares are in US dollars and Canadian fares in Canadian dollars. All come from our travel partner's fare data on November 2, 2026, for travel between November 2026 and April 2027. They aren't live quotes, and they change daily.
Los Angeles had two $758 fares, both on Qatar Airways, leaving January 3 and January 5. New York's $1,101 was an American Airlines trip for December 4 to 13, with two stops going out and one coming back. Dallas-Fort Worth's $1,133 was also American, with two stops each way, for November 8 to December 12. That trip was due to leave six days after the data was pulled, so treat the fare as a price level, not an offer. Chicago and Boston each found their cheapest fare on a Christmas Day departure: $1,599 for Chicago, returning January 21, and $1,950 for a one-week Boston trip.
Toronto: CA$18 buys 38 fewer hours
Toronto's cheapest Karachi fare, CA$1,134, was sold by American with two stops each way, for March 10 to April 24, 2027. The data puts it at 5,182 minutes of travel for the round trip, about 86 hours. Qatar Airways fares at CA$1,152 left on March 1, 9 or 11 and totaled 2,871 minutes, about 48 hours. The Qatar trips had one stop going out and two coming back. That's CA$18 more for 38 fewer hours.
Every one of the 20 Toronto fares had two stops on the way home, and the fares ran from CA$1,134 to CA$1,314. Twelve of the 20 left in March and six in January. The trips were long, 17 to 57 days, and 13 ran past four weeks. With two connections on the way home, leave real margin on the second. Our layovers guide covers how short a connection can safely be.
If you stay in Pakistan longer than four weeks, Canada's advice says you must show proof of polio vaccination when you leave, given within the 12 months before departure. The International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis is the only document it lists as accepted. Thirteen of the 20 Toronto fares cross that line.
No nonstops, and the Islamabad detour
We searched Toronto, New York, Chicago, Houston and Washington for nonstop fares to Karachi and found none; every Karachi fare in the data had at least one stop. We ran no nonstop search from other cities, and Calgary, Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton and Ottawa returned no Karachi fares at all.
From Toronto, one workaround is a PIA nonstop to Islamabad and a domestic flight south. Islamabad airport's departures board for November 8, 2026 listed 13 flights to Karachi, the first at 12:10 a.m. and the last at 10 p.m., and its arrivals board showed 12 coming back. The price is the problem. The only Toronto to Islamabad nonstop fare in the data was CA$3,463, for December 24 to January 8, about three times the CA$1,152 Qatar fare to Karachi. A separate domestic ticket also means its own bag rules, and our guide to baggage allowances explains how to check them. Every nonstop fare we found from Toronto is in our Toronto to Pakistan guide.
Karachi in Canada's advice
Canada's travel advice asks for a high degree of caution across Pakistan but singles out Karachi. Updated October 19, 2026, it says to avoid non-essential travel to the city because of crime and terrorism. The exceptions, where it asks only for a high degree of caution, are the District of Karachi (formerly Karachi South), including the Clifton area and DHA Phases 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 (minus some areas); DHA Phase 7 Extension in Korangi; Lalazar, Naval Officers Residential Estate 1 and the Port Tower Complex in Keamari; and Jinnah International Airport with Shahrah-e-Faisal Road between the airport and the city. The same page lists Lyari, Malir, Quaidabad and Orangi Town as sectors with high levels of violence, and says strikes and protest marches tend to happen in central Karachi.
A neighborhood on neither list is still covered by the general advice to avoid non-essential travel in the city, so settle with your hosts how you'll get around. The US State Department rates Pakistan Level 3, "Reconsider travel", in its June 2026 advisory. It says terrorist attacks have occurred in major cities such as Karachi and Islamabad, and that its ability to help citizens is limited in most places outside Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. Both governments tell travelers to stay out of Balochistan: the US says do not travel there, and Canada says avoid all travel. Canada also says Canadians need a visa unless they hold a valid NICOP.
Landing at Jinnah International
For arrivals, Canada says to arrange to be met, especially if you land after dark, and to check flight and airport operations before you travel. It warns that roadblocks can disrupt traffic and public transport, routes to airports included. For the ride into town its advice is to avoid public transportation, taxis among it. Where that isn't possible, it suggests radio-controlled taxis from reputable companies or a taxi-hailing app. Our airport transfers guide covers meet-and-greet bookings.
The European Union Agency for Asylum reported in June 2026 that entering Jinnah International may require a passport, a CNIC (Pakistan's national identity card) or a valid airline ticket, so whoever is collecting you should carry ID. It adds that several public bus routes serve the airport.
Weather and the calendar
The Pakistan Meteorological Department's 1981 to 2010 averages, published by the World Meteorological Organization, put December to February highs at 26.3 to 28.4°C (79 to 83°F) and lows at 11.5 to 14.0°C (53 to 57°F). From March through November the average high never drops below 32°C (90°F) and peaks at 35.5°C (96°F) in May and October. July and August are the wet months, at 60.1 mm and 61.0 mm (2.4 inches each). No other month averages more than 11.3 mm. Canada adds that the coast is subject to tropical cyclones, with high winds and heavy rain.
Ramadan is expected to begin around February 7, 2027, according to Canada's advice, and between sunrise and sunset it asks visitors not to eat, drink or smoke in public. It also warns of an increased risk of attack and heightened security around Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
