Turkey eSIM: data plans compared, and which Europe bundles include it

From 10 GB up, Turkey's eSIM plans cost under a dollar a gigabyte. Here is which size to buy, when a bundle with Greece or Jordan is worth it, and why the 120-day phone rule won't reach a US tourist.

Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, Turkey

In eSIMania's listing of November 5, 2026, 10 GB of data for 30 days in Turkey cost $9.93, just under a dollar a gigabyte. The cheapest Europe bundle plan with 10 GB for 30 days cost $15.73, and none of the bundles that include Turkey came in under $31.20. So the Turkey plan is the default, and the questions are what size to buy and when a second country changes the sums. Our eSIM guide explains the install and how to check that your phone takes one.

Which size to buy

Skip the 2 GB plan. At $4.02 for 15 days it's 45 cents short of the 3 GB, 15-day plan at $4.47.

The best value step is from 5 GB to 10 GB. Ten gigabytes cost $9.93, only $2.73 more than 5 GB at $7.20, and the price per gigabyte falls from $1.44 to 99 cents. At 20 GB for $18.06 it drops to 90 cents, which suits a trip with video calls or a laptop on hotspot.

At 50 GB, thirty days cost $39.47 and 180 days cost $39.79, so the longer one costs 32 cents more. If you need that much data, buy the 180-day version. Its days start counting when you first arrive, so leftover data still works on a return visit inside those 180 days.

Turkey with Greece, Europe or the Middle East

Three Europe bundles list Turkey: Europe (30+ areas) at $31.20 for 10 GB over 30 days, Europe (40+ areas) & Morocco at $42.39 and Europe+ at $51.60. The 31, 33 and 35-area bundles leave it out. Our Europe eSIM comparison shows what else each one covers.

Take Istanbul plus Greece. A 10 GB, 30-day plan for each country, $9.93 for Turkey and $14.34 for Greece, comes to $24.27, which is $6.93 less than Europe (30+ areas), and you get twice the data. The bundle's only advantage is one install instead of two.

The gap is wider eastward. eSIMania's Middle East bundle covers Turkey with Jordan, Israel, the UAE and seven other countries, and charges $37.89 for 3 GB over 30 days. Separate 3 GB plans for Turkey ($5.88) and Jordan ($19.90) total $25.78.

The 120-day phone registration rule

Turkey's telecoms regulator, BTK, requires phones brought in from abroad to be registered within 120 days of the traveler's entry. A phone that isn't registered by then is cut off from the networks, and the operators send SMS reminders every 30 days. Registration goes through the government's e-Devlet portal, with a fee, or at Turkcell, Vodafone and Türk Telekom offices for foreign residents. All of that is set out in a BTK statement.

On a single visa-free stay, a US visitor never reaches that deadline. Turkey's foreign ministry exempts ordinary US passport holders from a visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period, so the stay ends a month before the 120-day mark.

Turkcell, Vodafone and Türk Telekom are the operators named in that statement. eSIMania's Turkey page doesn't say which network its plans connect to.

Before you install

eSIMania says the countdown starts when you arrive in a covered country, or at once if you install while already there. Its own tip is to install before departure and turn on the line's data only when you need it. Follow that tip if your outbound flight connects in Istanbul and the Turkey part of the trip comes later, or the clock could start at the connection. Our layovers guide covers the connection itself.

Unused plans are refundable: eSIMania's refund page promises a full refund if no data has been used and you ask within 14 business days of purchase. Calls go through WhatsApp, FaceTime or other apps, while your home SIM stays on for texts.

For the ride in from the airport, our airport transfers guide compares trains, taxis and ride-hailing. If you're booking Istanbul's sights or a day trip ahead, the tours and tickets guide explains what skip-the-line really buys you.
